Casa Grande Ruins and Tonto National Monument

Join Chandler Museum and Chandler Public Library for the third presentation in the Our Stories speaker series called, History Found in the Land (January through March 2018). The National Park Service presents the history of the Casa Grande Ruins and the Tonto National Monument. Discover the stories of Salado and the Hohokam Indians in Arizona during the fourteenth century, as told in the structures and preserved sites of these two monuments. Who lived here? How did they survive in an often harsh desert environment? How did these particular sites come to be preserved as national monuments? The presenter will also provide a brief overview of the 22 National Park Service units throughout Arizona - find out all the sites you can visit to encounter the beauty and history of Arizona.
