Business Diversity Meeting
This committee is developing a plan of action for the Chamber to
reach out and partner with select groups. Their Mission – Build a
culture of awareness and appreciation for diversity in Chandler’s
business community, by removing barriers of communication
and creating opportunities to achieve business success.
Our speaker will be Filmer L. Lalio, M.Ed, BSW, Banner Alzheimer’s Institute, Native American Program
Filmer L. Lalio, a tribal member from the Zuni Tribe from Zuni, New Mexico is the Community Outreach Coordinator for the Native American Program, Family and Community Services, Banner Alzheimer’s Institute.
He coordinates the Native American Program and is responsible for providing Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia education and awareness campaign to the 22 Arizona American Indian Tribes and Urban Indian programs and organizations by collaborating and coordinating culturally appropriate workshops and presentations for the Arizona tribes and urban Indian communities in Tucson, Flagstaff and Phoenix.
He coordinates community workshops and conference presentations for Native American organizations and will include a coordinated team approach efforts consisting of Banner Alzheimer’s Institute medical staff and Family and Community Services staff.
He provides guidance and leadership for the clinical and research staff in recruitment of Native American Cohort volunteer participants for the normal aging and cognitive long term study in metro Phoenix area. He coordinates the Annual Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia in Native Americans conference which has been held at various Native American communities.
