National Latinx Heritage Month
Beginning on Thursday, September 15th, and ending on Saturday, October 15th, Latinx Heritage Month recognizes and honors the contributions and importance of Latinx Americans to the United States. The month celebrates the heritages and cultures of Americans from or with ancestors from Mexico, the Caribbean, Spain and Central and South America.
Latinx Heritage month first began in 1968 as "Hispanic Heritage Week", and expanded to a 30-day period in mid-September, this recognizes the anniversary of the independence of Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Mexico and Chile also celebrate their independence days on September 16 and 18.
Attend on Tuesday, September 27, to celebrate Latinx Heritage, learn about the history and contributions, and to celebrate the inclusion of all Latinx individuals!
