Estimator (15+ Years Experience Required)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Estimator with a minimum of 15 years of proven success within a design/build firm. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in commercial construction estimating, a strong track record of presenting budgets directly to clients, and the ability to develop accurate conceptual budgets across a variety of project types.

This role is ideal for professionals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and excel in both technical estimating and client-facing presentations.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Cost Estimating

• Prepare and develop conceptual budgets, budget checks, and detailed proposals
• Present project budgets to clients with clarity and confidence
• Deliver compelling presentations that communicate the value of DBSI’s partnership
• Estimate costs for ground-up commercial construction, tenant improvements, remodels, and buildouts
• Manage workflow and track bid/estimating status
• Review, interpret, and analyze RFPs; submit RFIs and follow up as needed
• Collaborate closely with the internal architectural design team to maintain project budgets
• Participate in design meetings with internal teams and clients to ensure budget alignment

Subcontractor & Supplier Coordination

• Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and project information
• Analyze material and construction cost trends
• Develop and maintain a nationwide network of subcontractors

Project Review & Analysis

• Lead cost reviews for project plans and specifications
• Conduct post-project analysis to validate estimate accuracy
• Utilize and maintain CSI format for reporting and documentation

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum of 15 years of estimating experience within a commercial design/build firm (required)
• Experience working on national commercial construction projects
• Strong understanding of cost estimating, budgeting, and revenue recognition

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in ProEst, BuildingConnected, and Microsoft Office (advanced Excel required)
• Strong blueprint reading and cost analysis skills
• Familiarity with construction job costing processes

Communication & Presentation

• Exceptional client-facing presentation skills
• Ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex budget information
• Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
