Subsurface Utility Mapping Operations Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
The Subsurface Utility Mapping (SUM) Operations Manager is instrumental to the success of the 02S Professional Services Pillar. The SUM Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring operations policies and procedures are adhered to deliver our service in accordance with the proud history of McCarthy’s Operational Excellence and Client Experience.
The Operations Manager is responsible for the execution of SUM projects in support of the Professional Services Pillar. They are directly responsible for the safety, quality, schedule, and financial state of all SUM projects that are placed in their responsible charge. In addition, they are responsible for internal McCarthy account management, education, and development of relationships to further national adoption. The Operations Manager shall work with the Business Development Manager to develop and grow relationships with existing and potential clients, seek out project opportunities, and directly impact the business unit sales goals. In addition, they identify and understand the local market and conditions, and potential new sectors that offer additional opportunities and revenue for our business. They work alongside Professional Services Leadership in continued development and alignment of our product deliverables to ensure a positive Client Experience.

McCarthy Integration
- Lead the efforts to stay in front of current and future projects
- Work to develop internal McCarthy adoption through education and an exceptional client experience.
- Stay current on all McCarthy pursuits and awarded projects while proactively reaching out to stay engaged.
- Effectively manage all pursuit efforts and integrate with project teams to provide support throughout the effort.
- Encourage and communicate the value in complete Project Lifecycle Integration.
- Manage support during McCarthy’s preconstruction, operations, and hand-over phases.
- Be present with project teams to accelerate integration and awareness of business unit service offerings.
- Proposal budgeting and development.
- Perform and coordinate site visits to McCarthy projects.
Operations
- Initial Coordination with Client to collect all existing utility record information (Quality Level D) & project survey control.
- Manage Communication & Coordination with Owner .
- Responsible charge for assigned SUM projects.
- Overall Coordination with Client for testhole planning and setup.
- Understand schedule and financials.
- Manage deliverable package creation.
- Delivery and review with client.
- Manage project financials and invoicing.
Quality
- The Operations Manager shall be in Responsible Charge of all Project Deliverables
- Provide deliverable Quality Control and stay engaged with field operations and design throughout the Quality Assurance process.
Financials & Accounting
- Invoice projects and clients in a timely manner
- Cost Tracking throughout project
- Perform monthly Cost Projections for all active projects
- Project Accounting and CMiC Maintenance
- Monthly Summary and Quarterly Highlight Input & Support
- Ensure Sales Tracking sheet is maintained and current at all times
- Sales/Revenue Forecasting
- Complete After Operations Reporting
Peer Group Alignment
- Project Managers (Field)
- Assistant Project Managers (Field)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering
- 5+ Years of Experience in the SUM business managing multiple concurrent projects
- Self-perform LCPR experience is strongly desired.
- Must be geographically mobile to travel.
- Advanced knowledge of construction principles/practices required
- Experienced dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and/or self-perform work
- Experience leading successful project team, including development of employee and maintaining relationships with external entities
